Getting Started in CEP: How to Build an Event Processing Application (Part 1)

Complex event processing (CEP) is a promising new technology that aims to enable businesses to quickly identify and respond to both threats and opportunities. Many companies are interested in the promise of CEP but they are unsure where to begin.

We are fortunate that our friends at Gartner are hosting their first event processing summit, 19-21 September 2007, in Orlando, Florida; and I am honored that Roy Schulte invited me to present on this topic, Getting Started in CEP: How to Build an Event Processing Application. As Mark Palmer so eloquently mentioned in his blog entry, “when Gartner publicly endorses a market, its a good indicator that momentum is on the side of technology.”

So… How do we build an event processing application?
