AWS has announced the public beta of three new features for Amazon EC2: Amazon CloudWatch for monitoring AWS cloud resources, Auto Scaling for automatically growing and shrinking capacity based on demand, and Elastic Load Balancing for distributing incoming traffic across Amazon EC2 compute instances.

Thanks for covering this, Tim. Cloudwatch provides some great metrics on your EC2 instances, but it doesn’t provide any kind of graphing interface or notification.
Scout, a hosted server and application monitoring service, provides CloudWatch graphs, trends, and alerts via a web interface. You can see the CloudWatch numbers alongside other metrics like process memory usage, MySQL query stats, etc.
