Disclosure and Transparency, Please.
I was on vacation and read where one of the “big guys” of the Event Processing Technical Society (EPTS) was bragging that Gartner mentioned EPTS in the context of CEP.
What I did not read, however, was the disclosure that a Gartner VP serves on the Steering Committee of EPTS. Did I simply “miss it”? Or was it “accidentally” omitted? Just a “small, unimportant oversite”? ……
Come on guys. Full disclosure is very important! Step up to the plate and play ball.
On a related note, I also read that Gartner has just recently positioned CEP in the “Emerging Technology” climb of their MQ hype cycle.
Those who read this blog may recall this 1 June 2008 post, On CEP Maturity and the Gartner Hype Cycle.
It is great to be over a year ahead of Gartner (and not referenced like the EPTS vendors who argued otherwise), isn’t it? LOL
… and how about that “CEO” who argued so aggressively against the same?
Nevermind. I am in a position that I can actually be honest - a seemingly rarity in the world of software marketing! Honesty and accuracy does not seem to result in offers to be a CEO, LOL.
Stay tuned for my future blog post:
In the Belly of the Beast ….
…. where I will tell the story of how submillisecond algorithmic trading benefits the greedy corporate types and does nothing for all the investors who actually try to pick good companies to be owners and investors v. submillisecond “salami skimmers!”
Feed the Beast!!
